Victory in Europe was made possible by a remarkable military collaboration between the main anti-Axis powers – the US, Russia and Britain. But the three-way relationship, between Franklin D Roosevelt, Joseph Stalin and Winston Churchill, was never easy, and it set a pattern of national rivalry, suspicion, fear and distrust that persists to this day.
But even with most of the country staying home, the federal government is forcing planes to stay in the air. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, airlines are only eligible for their portion of the $25 billion aviation bailout that the Trump administration recently negotiated if they maintain “minimum service requirements.”
Trump has used his clemency powers to reward friends, political allies and donors, and Fox News regulars. Former Trump aides convicted in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation—including Roger Stone—have reportedly sought pardons, and Trump recently said he was “strongly considering” granting one for Michael Flynn. Jane Mayer from The New Yorker has a really good piece out about how U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R. KY) path being Trump’s top enabler showcases how Moscow Mitch truly is the Dr. Frankenstein to Trump’s Frankenstein Monster. A number of Never Trumpers like Bill Kristol and Rick Wilson tear McConnell a new one in the article but what’s brutal about this piece is how people who knew and once admired McConnell have turned on him:
Trump impersonators get the stupidity, narcism, racism and cruelty down. But listen to the real source. The comedians never deliver that crusty/oily, lying evil voice-in-one-ear, that the real Trump uses, and his followers seem oblivious to. It’s fucking creepy.
He’s always done it. That delivery is one of his biggest tells, when he lies.
