Ronan O’Rahilly, Radio Caroline founder who inspired UK pop and pirate radio, dies aged 79

His death was announced by the radio station that is still broadcasting, who said: “In a pastime populated by unusual people, Ronan was more unusual than all of them combined.” He had been diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2013.

PARIS — A group of “rich people” who wanted to escape coronavirus confinement in England “by spending it on the French Riviera” had their plans thwarted when police in Marseille swooped on their private jet and ordered them to leave, a source close to the investigation told NBC News.

Rare Ravi Shankar footage released to mark centenary

This week would have seen the 100th birthday of the Indian musician Ravi Shankar, one of India’s most celebrated artists who famously taught Beatle George Harrison to play the sitar. 

Planned celebrations, including concerts at the London South Bank Centre and Carnegie Hall in New York, were postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Originally, Steed (Patrick Macnee) was a recurring and somewhat minor character in the show. He assisted Doctor David Keel (Ian Hendry), the main star of the show. Hendry left the series. Steed was moved up in importance as Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman) joined the team.

Ms. Blackman, of course left the series to film ‘Goldfinger‘.
